Purchase Time Splitters 2

This game when it was made was and to this day still is one of the most fun FPS games ever made. The multiplayer gameplay is great and the different types of multiplayer gameplay is amazing. There is a type of multiplayer gameplay called virus, someone (typically a computer) starts as a 'virus' and tries to tag everyone, once someone is tagged they also continue tagging others until there is only one man left. It is crazy running from a bunch of infected bots or friends. With the option of 12 bots, its phenomenal. Storyline is good, although i admit that atomsmasher on hard is RIDICULOUSLY difficult. I've still yet to beat it. Personally I liked this game more than Future Perfect aka Timesplitters 3. I've spent countless hours with friends playing this game. Co-op story mode is so much fun! Although I love halo, I'd still only give it 4 stars, this gets 5. This game takes much more talent than halo and is SO much faster! Buy this game, get a multitap and play with friends, you wont regret it.Get more detail about Time Splitters 2.

Order Red Star

I just started playing this game, and thought, it was hard initially, but it got easier, as I learned the moves, and special moves, and all the other nuances, that make this game - just so fun..! Overall, learning curve to get moving in this game, is about 5 mins, mashing just a few buttons, but it gets really fun, when you can pull off combos and special moves, really make the game - so much more worth, playing.. I recommend it to anyone who just likes to kill things and move on..Get more detail about Red Star.

Shop For Cars: Mater-National

My boys (5 & 9) LOVE this game!! We have this game for our Playstation 2 & bought it as the sequel to the Cars video game for the same system. I think it really works best as a sequel to the original Cars game because it expands on the story & game of the original.

My boys LOVE that they can race as lots of other characters (especially Luigi & Monster Truck Mater) and that the can collect special paint jobs & wheels for Lightning in story mode (in addition to bonus points)! My boys also love the fact that they can explore the story mode of the game as "Monster Truck Lightning"!! It's one of their favorite parts of this game. (FYI - you appear to NEED the extra height of Monster Truck Lightning to collect some of the bonus points in story mode.)

The only disappointment my boys have with this game is that in the original Cars game they could race against each other in "Versus" mode on any of the road races they had unlocked from the game, as well as stadium (Piston Cup) races & "Rustbucket" races. In the "Mater-national" game, the only races available in "Versus" mode are stadium races & "Rustbucket" races, no road races. You can still play the road races by themselves, but only in Arcade or Story mode and so only racing against the computer, not each other. While that is a disappointment to the boys, the other features this game offers more than make up for it!!

Highly recommend!!Get more detail about Cars: Mater-National.

.hack: G.U., Vol. 1: Rebirth

People new to the .Hack franchise (or who never saw the precursor anime Roots, both applied to me) need not be concerned about missing story: all you need to know will be presented to you through a gorgeous if faintly lengthy introductory segment of some of the best cinematics I've seen on the PS2 (most can be skipped if you want). Some players may find Haseo rather steeped in teen angst, and .Hack fans seem to line up to either hate or love Atoli, but pretty much everybody has understandable motivations and history that you can often relate to. Good as this may be, like many beginnings of a series, the story and characters don't truly get fleshed out until later in the trilogy.
Story: 8/10

Graphics are sharp, while not brightly colorful nor are they drab and muted. Character models are all interesting and the areas you'll spend much of your time do a fair job of depicting random area generation. Magic looks nice and I virtually guarantee that you will never get tired of slamming the enemy with Rengeki heavy attacks.
Graphics: 8/10

The sound effects are well done, everything from blade clangs to footsteps changing in pitch from the tap on stone to the softer push against long grass. Your only control options are for stereo or mono, though, which led me to drop the score slightly.
Sound: 7/10

I listen to all kinds of music, but rare are the times when a soundtrack snares my attention from the beginning and holds on all the way to the end - the work here composed by Chikayo Fukuda is even more stunning than the visuals and was so good I bought the soundtrack for the whole trilogy (it comes in two volumes with every song in the games) from a music import shop. It's true that the music can sound a little repetitive after a while, but as fitting as most of it is it shouldn't be much of a problem.
Music: 9.5/10

Leveling up is slightly easy, but the enemies will still challenge you throughout the story, and there are always interesting bonus enemies like Haseo's Doppelganger (your level plus 8, with enhanced gear that you can gain yourself in later volumes). Most items can be customized, though like many series, Rebirth will tease you more with hints of the things to come. You can charge in quickly and challenge yourself at lower levels, and people who want an easier time can over-level without too much tedium. The pace is great and combat remains energetic from your first trip with Gaspard to your last battle against Azure Kite.
Gameplay: 8/10

Like all .Hack games, after finishing the story you can continue playing to level-up, completionists can hunt for items, and you even get a bonus boss to tackle. However, there's really no-where to go but forward. Still, the variety of things you unlock by doing things like filling out the enemy bestiary and unlocking wallpapers, music tracks, and videos are neat. Unfortunately, some of the videos are short and miss a couple of the most dramatic narrative segments.
Replayability: 4/10

This is an excellent series and anybody interested in action/RPGs will probably enjoy this a lot, but be aware that it's really a package deal: if you get one, you'll have to grab the whole trilogy or else the sense of incompletion will be obvious. Go for it. They are that good.
Overall: 8.5/10Get more detail about .hack: G.U., Vol. 1: Rebirth.

I am a fan of tony hawk, but I hated this game and I don't say that word. it's fun for a minuite.after that forget it it was way to short.i'm sorry I wanted to like this game,i really did.why did bam & steve-o from that stupid movie make this game anyway. it was a stupid game,it was like the skating was just put in at the last second the graphics were bad T.H.U.G 1
had way better graphics
on the upside the music choice is good from johnny cash to metal.thats it.
i bought this game without thinking bad idea
T.H.U.G 1 was way better in every way
as much as it hurts me to say this I gave this game a
1 out of 5 only because 1 is the lowest number
I'm sorry this is a waist of money even if you bought for a penny
go buy T.H.U.G 1

Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks Best Quality

I'm not a mortal combat fan, never liked any of their games(not a fan of the vs. fighting game genre). But I did like this one.

The game was fun and not too hard, not too short or too tedious.

It is a challenge to throw things in the right direction or of the right height as that is required throughout the game. The "test you might" thingys were pointless button mashing which was hard on my controller and my fingers. I really like how the you could look up the moves anytime in game instead of going to your computer(though a few moves were still over complicated and near impossible to execute due to the enemies not standing still while you try to enter the sequence. Stun only last a second so not nearly long enough and enemies do not stand rolling their head when near dead as they used to). There was repetition but the game overall was not overly repetitive like others of its genre. Traveling was also not ridiculously slow like many other games. It is a real 3D game and not just 3D environment or 3D models(you can jump, climb, swing, etc though executing air attacks are hard due to the enemies falling back down too quickly). The game crashed a few times but rebooting and loading fixed it no repetitive freezing at certain points like other games. The cut scenes' voices still are that of your original characters instead of the unlocked ones but that is minor and kinda humorous.
If they had made it so that you can play as more characters(like dynasty warriors series) it would not have hurt their sales.Get more detail about Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks.

True Crime: New York City Decide Now

Description of this game in one word: Mediocre.

Okay, so most people expect a Grand Theft Auto copy when they think of True Crime: Streets of LA as well as this version, as well. In many regards, it is set up to be a similar game. But in all honesty, it just can't compare. But then again, what game can compare to Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, one of the best games ever made. And the Saint's Row franchise is the second best sandbox shooter out there. So, does that make True Crime: New York City the third best? I don't know, but if Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas is a 10 out of 10 and Saint's Row is about an 8.5 out of 10, then I'd have to say this game is maybe a 6. That's slightly, barely above average. In really, this game is just that. Average. Obviously, there's much better third person shooter/driver games out there, but I've also played much, much worse (like Crackdown).

You play as thug-turned-detective Marcus Reed, trying to take down the major criminals of Manhattan island, as well as avenge the death of a fallen ally. You have a cast of colorful (but somewhat formulaic) characters to help you along your way. You can upgrade your stats and abilities via Detective ranks, starting out at 5 and going up to Rank 1, the highest detective rank (you can get in this game, anyway). Each rank boost unlocks new vechicles, weapons, and skills. Unfortunately, health is not one of the things that gets boosted. Manhattan island is completely street accurate, making it a HUGE video game city to explore, possibly the largest single city in any sandbox video game ever. Along Manhattan are various shops you can go to for various things. It's also unfortunate, though, that most all of them are not indicated on your map and aside from the gun shop, the ones that are are unimportant.

As you explore Manhattan isle, you'll always get various police reports of crimes going on everywhere in the city. Aside from the main storyline missions, your job will be to clean up all 20 districts of the city, one crime at a time. Crimes generally start out small, based on how bad crime is in the district, and goes up as you improve the area. You'll start with Level 1 crimes like stopping bums from fighting and observing domestic fights and work your way up to Level 3 crimes, like stopping bank heists, taking down counterfeit money labs, and wiping out entire street gangsm at war. The amount of crime going on at any given time depends on how bad crime is in any district. If you're in East Harlem, for example, crimes will be happening all the time. But if you're in a safer area, like Midtown, however, crimes will be far less frequent. Each crime earns you Career Points that will affect your ranking boost, as well as your salary. Also given, is the oppurtunity to be a good cop, doing things by the book and ethically. Or a bad cop, playing by your own rules, and being ruthless, as well as lawless. Either method is your own choice. Also in the game are street races and fight clubs, scattered throughout, as well. They are part of cleaning up the city, as well. And you can buy different cars and fight techinques to help you on your way.

So, with that said, here are all the good and bad points of True Crime: New York City.

PROS:

- The somewhat large number and diversity of crimes helps against repetition. Although some repetition is bound to occur.

- Good enough balance between storyline missions, car races, bare-knuckle fight tournaments, and free-roaming crimes to take care of. There's always something to do.

- The story is fairly good, making you want to play through the game to it's end, at least once.

- The Street Races are actually quite fun (when the other cars aren't bumping into you, that is)!

- The only video game to have a fully, street-accurate representation of Manhattan, New York City.

- The Subway system (which actually has a different underground subway station for EVERY location) is a great way to get around the massive island of Manhattan, and most times, is much more effective than driving. Plus, it's cheaper than real life! In other games, it wouldn't be necessisary, but here, you need it.

- A pretty decent number of weapons available, with various damage levels, firing speeds, and accuracy.

- Pinpoint Targeting allows you to go for lethal shots or neutralizing shots, that stop a criminal in his or her tracks without killing them. However, you'll have to be at, at least Rank Level 3 to really take advantage of this.

- "Bullet Time" fine aiming that slows time down to allow you to get in your precision shots.

- The cars are pretty diverse and have fairly diverse stats.

- This game actually has what too many sandbox titles skip on; First Person car driving! I especially like that as I really prefer to drive in the First Person view.

- Good enough music soundtrack. Many Hip Hop and Rock songs from A-List talent, like Nas, Jay-Z, and My Chemical Romance, to name a few. Also, Blue Oyster Cult's "Don't Fear The Reaper"!

CONS:

- The multi-button controls are very confusing, at times.

- Confusing double confirmation setup for selecting or buying things

- The car physics are, for a game approaching a realistic type of feel, embarassingly unrealistic

- It's way too easy to get to Detective Rank One and no increased difficulity between Ranks achievements

- Button mistake/glitch in the Station Change and Car Horn (both being the Right D-Pad, instead of the horn being Down D-Pad) in motor vehicles

- Sometimes, certain weapons are required for missions that you won't know about and can't get during the mission time

- Sometimes, it's required to be non-lethal in crimes, but you aren't told when

- Some Crime Alerts are much more important than others and can't be ignored, but you aren't told which are more important than others

- No regenerating health in this game, in which it would be truly helpful!

- The Map is off scale, which makes the pinpointed shops really out-of-scale with their location, making something that looks close by on the map actually being multiple blocks away

- There's no actual clock in the game (at all), especially bad considering stores actually close at night!

- Every single shop in the city has something different in them, which makes finding what you need in a city this big, a MAJOR hassle!

- You can NEVER find the important things you need because most shops, including food/health stores, are not indicated on your menu screen map!

- The traffic is really screwed up and almost always goes one-way, even in five-lane streets! (Meaning either dodging oncoming traffic, or being blocked by slow-moving vehicles in front of you!)

- The weather system is off (it rains WAY too much! I thought this was New York, not Seattle!)

- The clothing feature is pretty useless (The clothes all suck!)

- Small and Major Crimes still occur in "Cleaned up" neighborhoods

- It's way too easy to be a Bad Cop and much too hard to be a Good Cop

- No real "Landmarks" to actually explore!

- The weapon weilding and inventory system is pretty confusing

- Weapon selection is set up very pretty poorly

- You can't keep any weapons you get off of dead bodies

- Most vehicles are very, very fragile and constantly need to be fixed at an Auto Shop

- The cars have no names!

- Shooting the enemy's tailpipe of their car can result in your Instant Death!

- Horrible graphics

- Much of the street-accurate Manhattan is just filler

- A Random(?!?) In-Vehicle Music Player

CONCLUSION

In summary, True Crime: New York City is a fair GTA clone, but it's not really a serious competitor for the Rockstar title, at all. While they do make a good attempt at a quality game, the whole thing itself falls short of worth owning. Maybe a rental, and worth checking out if you're a fan of Sandbox shooter/driver games like me, but I can't really say it's worth owning. Unless you can get it for under ten dollars. It is, I'll say, at least better than the Scarface video game they released on the PS2. That game is much worse. True Crime: NYC is worth a nice check out for it's story if you've played everything else, but with so many problems and glitches in it, (the glitches I really didn't go into in much detail, but there are quite a few) I can't really say it's worth anything over Three Stars. Or a 6.5 out of 10. A nice story, good game elements, and a clear showing that some work actually went into this title, but at the end of the day, it still falls short of success, and has trouble being worthy to hang with the GTAs and Saint's Rows of the sandbox gaming franchise.Get more detail about True Crime: New York City.

Lowest Price The Matrix: Path of Neo

This game is fun because you can fight soldiers with kung foo. It's not one of the best but I still play it often. The music is exciting and was made with great imagination. The early levels are the most action packed. My favorite level is the first one because it's so crazy. The worst part of this game is probably the slow pace. I still haven't got to the levels from the Matrix sequels. But overall, give this game a try.Get more detail about The Matrix: Path of Neo.

Have played this on the Wii & the XBox 360. Own it on the latter...but being that it's out in the living room being used as a media extender...can't play it as much as I would like. On the other hand...have a PS2 in my bedroom I use for a DVD player...so wanted to get this for that system. Being I paid $26 for the 360...but $12 for the PS2 version made up my mind to get a copy here.

As for game play...what more can you ask for? The whole cast does the voices...the whole cast is there!!! The exception would be Troy McClure...since Bill Hartman did his voice.Get more detail about The Simpsons Game.

Purchase MLB Power Pros 2008

I bought this on impulse last year because I like baseball games and it was only 20$ or so at the time. It turned out to be the best decision I made gaming wise the entire year.

My title is a little misleading. It implies that you have to like weird Japanese stuff to like this game. That is far from true. It is certainly a plus if you enjoy JRPGs or story based games in general. This is because the best mode by is Success mode, which is a story driven character creation. I spent probably 90% of my time making characters on this game, trying to get them to be as good as possible. This mode alone is worth the price of the game.

Other than that you have a standard "franchise" mode which they call season (even though you can do 10 seasons), a life mode which is pretty much like the career mode in other MLB games (you only control your player, some off the field minor decisions), single game and various mini games.

The players may look adorable but there is some serious baseball to be had in this game. The AI is decent and the player ratings system is one of the best ever. You cannot hit bombs with David Eckstein left and right, and it would be hard to bat .350 with Giambi over a season (on a reasonable difficulty).

The Japanese love their baseball and that passion oozes from this game and the previous one. I'm so glad that 2k brought this series stateside.Get more detail about MLB Power Pros 2008.

Order Monster Jam: Urban Assault

This game is good for kids who just want to drive a monster truck and have fun. What I want is a Monster Truck game to the Quality of Dirt 2. More of a simulation real life version would what I would prefer. This game would have been one star better if they just would put in steering wheel support! And people were complaining about that since the first game came out. Good for kids but this is not even close if you want something more real. The race tracks are pretty boring and the controls are too ridgid. I would think Monster Jam would have wanted to up the game quality overall by now but aparently it's making money. Bottom line 12 and under, enough different game play areas to play, plenty of different trucks, and stuff to smash through. My two girls are 7 and 10 and they do play it occasionaly on thier DS's. Great game! Graphics and AI are both very good. Gameplay is very smooth. Midway Arcade Treasures Top Quality

The Midway arcade Treasures collection takes you back to a simpler time in gaming. A time where ostriches fly, newspapers are still delivered from bicycles, and root beer drinkers get distracted by can-can dancers. There are certainly some old favorites on here and they're just as addicting as when I was 7. Some original menus aren't available, I still can't figure out how to make some things two player, and I SWEAR the SINISTAR is moving faster than it used to but if all you want it to veg out and play something nostalgic pick this up. King of Fighters 2006 Buy Now

The game is fun...fast paced...has a lot of characters...yadda yadda...

I'm sure other reviews have touched on all that.

As a long time fan of these SNK characters, my favorite part of this game is the dialogue and character interactions that actually take place between fights. Never before and never since have you seen the King of Fighters characters portrayed as so...real. Depending on the match-up, you're treated to a little pre-fight conversation, like Geese vs Billy Kane, Mai vs B.Jenet, Iori vs Kyo, Terry vs Ryo, etc. There are a lot of them.

And, then there are the mid boss fights and endings, which display each character's personality to a degree we don't get to see very often.

There are even some special character specific win poses.

It's a very character driven experience, that transcends any other 2D KOF game.

Perhaps the most unappreciated aspect of this game. I'd recommend it for fans of these characters.

Save Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus

Insane characters with giant anchors, scalpels, pool cues, ghosts, guitars and chunks of concrete; lightning speed combo game play, head banging rock and roll music, and clean, sharp animations and graphic quality. This game is completely crazy, and if you are any sort of real fighting game fan, you will absolutely love every minute of it.

The final (supposedly) iteration of the famed Guilty Gear XX series, Accent Core plus is considered possibly the most balanced and fastest 2D fighter ever. AC+ is a re-release of 07's Accent Core, and while the same in the terms of game play that added several elements to the already tight system, it brings back enough content to keep both the solo player and the hardcore competitor entertained.

The game's extremely high learning curve is a put-off to many, but there's no room for quitters here, and the highest level of play clearly demands the best because of this. Even if you don't plan on entering any tournaments, the game is still easily entertaining to the fighting game newcomer with its short, quick dial-a-combos. It runs at a crisp 60 fps and moves like a cheetah. Every character can dash, airdash, double jump, chain attacks into each other and pull off ridiculously long and powerful combos that, while strong, require extremely strict timing and a heavy dose of focus to pull off correctly. Everyone has a realistic chance of winning while retaining a ridiculous amount of style and it shows.

Name another game with a small, female, 13 year-old pirate who fights with a giant anchor. Or a simple sad sack possessed to the neck by ghosts who fight on his behalf, knocking him unconscious at the same time? How about a 9-foot tall, insane doctor with an enormous scalpel and a "Mary Poppins Fetish"? Even an American, ex drug dealer ninja who thinks he's really Japanese and a time-paradox inducting alternate to the protagonist with a giant...slab of concrete are here. The game takes all kinds.

Guilty Gear is beyond amazing; it is legendary. Play it and you'll know a true fighter.

Discount PS3/Wii Portable Keyboard

This is a good keyboard if you're looking for something compact to use for your console web browsing and web messaging. Unfortunately, it's fairly heavy (uses batteries), so it's difficult for me to add it to the controller and actually play games with ease. If you have even moderately large fingers, you'll often be pressing the wrong key and the back button doesn't work while typing. The piece of plastic used to attach the keyboard to your controller is also extremely hard to remove. (off the keyboard itself, not the controller)

The game overall is pretty much the same from the last previous titles. Just a few changes here and there but nothing major. Feels like EA Sports is trying to get the customer to buy the PS3 versin but that version has better looking players and more options but still has alot of work to be done as well. Best bet is to buy the game used and not brand new because its not worth twenty dollars.Get more detail about NCAA Football 09.

Cheap Avatar: The Burning Earth

Ok i know what your thinking, this game isn't meant for a 25 year old man. But i think we should hold our kids to a higher standard. I was so excited to run around in the vast complex world of Avatar, but all i got was simple repetetive levels with little to no detail. Not to mention cutting out the 2nd half of the show, leaving you with a game you can memorize in 6 hours. It was really cool to play as Iroh and Zuko, but it was only for a quarter of a level. The extra fighting game that you unlock with characters as you progress, was a good add. But i don't see why they didn't have the bosses as playable characters in that, instead leaving you with fighting as Momo and only 7 other characters. I didn't expect a complex role playing game, but i didn't think i was going to get a gameboy game for the PS2.Get more detail about Avatar: The Burning Earth.

Purchase Onimusha 3: Demon Siege

A awesome game, the best in the Onimusha series, at least I think it is. Found it new here, arrived ahead of time and in excellent condition. Love playing this game.Get more detail about Onimusha 3: Demon Siege.

Order King of Fighters 98: Ultimate Match

KoF '98 Ultimate Match is a fantastic purchase for anyone still into fighters on the PS2. I've been playing this game non-stop with my friends since receiving the game. It's actually taken a lot of my time away from Street Fighter 4. The additional characters (Geese! and more) really make an old game feel awesome. You can turn on/off 3-D backgrounds, but I'd leave them on--they look great. One thing to do as soon as you receive the game: turn off the soft focus feature. The soft focus slightly blurs the characters to make them look smoother, but I find the game more enjoyable and better looking with all the characters in their full pixel glory.Get more detail about King of Fighters 98: Ultimate Match.

Where To Buy Dora the Explorer: Journey to the Purple Planet

My son started playing this when he was 2 1/2. He has mastered the controls very quickly. I like the fact that the "action button" or "X" button does everything, so he doesn't get confused. And there's no way for him to die. The basic premise of the game is that Dora is on earth when a spaceship lands and some aliens come out and say they need to get back to their planet but their ship is broken. Dora agrees to help them. She finds Isa and her rocket and Dora & Boots embark on a space trip through 4 planets. My son has won the game serveral times, but he continues to want to play it! Dora and Boots are the stars but Map is around, as is Backpack. At various times, just like in the tv show, my son will need to select items from backpack to solve problems. It's great! I wish they made more games like this. There's no violence, no way for the characters to get hurt or die, and it helps learn problem-solving, direction, and more. Highly recommended!Get more detail about Dora the Explorer: Journey to the Purple Planet.

Shop For Musashi Samurai Legend

If you're looking for an in-depth thought-provoker, you definitely have my permission to stop reading these reviews right now. However, if you have some free time or are looking for a game that's "just fun to play through," Musashi gets two thumbs up and 5 gold star stickers for that.

Admittedly traditional as far as concept goes, I found myself appreciating the game more because of its slight departures from the norm. Yeah, you've got your standard five-part plot-line going, involves swords and maidens, and who wants to bet the sword/maiden thing is element-based? Basically, if you've played your fair share of videogames over the years, you'll see this one coming a mile away--for the most part. At times, as I've said, Musashi is definitely a departure from your traditional five-step-PS2-product-with-a-couple-side-quests-here-and-there.

My personal favorite things about the game are 1) the graphics and 2) the characters. First off, since Musashi was advertised especially for its manga imitation (reminded me of Sly Cooper, on a more juvenile note), it's good to see that the visuals are surely easy to admire. (Personally, I always say go for the cartoon graphics, seeing as even after a decade, as long as you colored it right, no one will be cringing as they give old-school games a run-through on their backward-compatible Playstation6.) Secondly, the characters are fantastic: funny, interesting, unique, and well-scripted, somebody in the think tank is a good writer and it shows. Even you are bound to fall in love with Musashi--just like everybody else.

As far as operation goes, Musashi is not difficult to play. My only complaint set-up-wise is the fact that there is literally only ONE stationary save-point in the entire game. The overworld map is kind of confusing at first, but the learning curve is steep, and since Musashi is generally mostly a button-masher (I found that pressing "O" x 4 can easily become the leading cause of carpal tunnel syndrome in the U.S. and Japan) it's good to know things like: the controls aren't confusing or complicated, the camera angles are easy to manipulate, and most if not all obstacles can be avoided by simply running around. However, I will not say that Musashi is a game you can sit down to play straight through. It is a little challenging but the challenge is definitely fun.

My absolute favorite aspect of the game? Duplicating. That is, Musashi is a samurai in training and can learn new attacks by watching enemies make their moves. Really neat stuff.

Bottom line: good game. I'd recommend it to just about anyone.Get more detail about Musashi Samurai Legend.
