I have been a fan of Romance of the Three Kingdoms ever since the first one came out on the NES. I played that one at a friends house for the first time, and we would play for hours trying to outthink one another on the battlefield. The game has certainly come a long way, and this installment really challenges you to think ahead and plan your attacks carefully. Several times I found myself wishing I had taken another tactic, but you learn from the mistakes and find the best way to go about conquering the other leaders. I personally like to create my own characters and start a new army separate from the historial ones in the game. I also think taking a small time player and developing them into a powerhouse is fun too. It's the whole "David vs Goliath" thing, but it's challenging and fun to do.
If you haven't played this game before, then the characters will take a while to learn. It's easy to see who has the best stats, but you come to develop a love-hate relationship with some of them, as they all have their own strengths and weaknesses.
